Balanced Power- Healthy Feminine & Healthy Masculine Qualities
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about BALANCED POWER. What power is and isn’t and how the masculine and feminine qualities within each of us play a role in this alignment. For myself, I know well my over-caretaking imbalanced feminine side. When this is “in charge” it can lead to burnout, feeling overly sensitive to the world’s challenges and putting others before myself to a fault. But my imbalanced masculine is no better- as from this over-active “doing” place, there is no stopping the productivity and forward movement of activity and effort.
Balance means to find a centered place, but it doesn’t mean to always live from that place. In fact, we are meant to fall in and out of balance- this is what creates the muscle memory to actually find our center. But knowing the signs of feeling “out of balance” is essential to living an awakened life with greater ease and fruitful abundance.
A heavy heart, rolled shoulders, fatigue, low energy, shallow breath, are all signs that my own out of balance feminine nature is taking charge. But when my head is spinning, my breath and body are tight, and I find myself clenching my jaw or gut, I know that the imbalanced masculine aspect of my being has taken over.
What is balance and how does power come into play with this? Balanced Power is our ability to live from a centered place and to make choices that are in our highest good. The full expression of this would include taking charge of ones life choices, speaking the truth, standing up for oneself, owning ones gifts, saying yes to life and following our own Divine life plan- even if it feels a bit scary sometimes.
POWER has been misconstrued for millennia and this includes a history of oppressing people who are in their power (think witch hunts) and oppression by people in power (lots of examples of this). So, can we all agree that the word “power” has a complex history and present moment place in our lives?
And yet- we are all powerful beings. And when we lose our power or shrink away from the authentic expression of our own balanced, centered power, we get out of balance ourselves and can end up either trying to control our lives or the lives of others or shrink away from the fully expressed embodiment of ourselves.
At the center of our lives is the ability to live in balance from both a healthy masculine and a healthy feminine perspective. But what does this really feel like for you? For me, from this centered alive place, I can feel both the grounding elements of the Earth and the upwards lifting energy of the Sky- with both energies meeting in my own heart for renewed focus and energy. Coming alive to this place is still a work in progress in my own life but one that I feel passionate about and committed to.
Last September I participated in a vision quest on the land with the intention “to live in balance in the world so the people shall live and live in abundance and harmony with the world forevermore- and to be a leader in guiding others towards this balance”. This prayer, I can see now, was a tall order and since then I’ve been processing, integrating, and receiving gifts and challenges to help me find within my own self what true BALANCE really is.
This idea of healthy masculine and healthy feminine qualities within us all and stepping into our own balanced power are part of these teachings for me.
How does this all resonate for you? Where do you feel yourself go out of balance? How powerful are you feeling in your own life right now? How can your breath help you find your own center again?
Breathwork for me gives me continual insights and freedom to take charge of my own energy and in turn take charge of my own life.
We’re always making choices. Which choice are you making now and are you willing to step more fully into your own power?
As Maryann Williamson wrote, often “our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, it is that we are powerful beyond measure.” Can you feel the truth in this statement?
Can you and we have the courage to stand up within our own selves and “right the ship” of our own hearts, bodies and minds- then maybe, just maybe, this bold act of courage will help right the ship for our own world as well. That would be a gift and one I believe is possible.
